Who are we?

The Springfield Central Cultural District (SCCD) covers an architecturally impressive, compact, walkable area encompassing approximately 1/3 of a square mile of Downtown Springfield, MA. The district is brimming with cultural attractions, a robust calendar of cultural planningand a diverse roster of restaurants and eateries.Catch a musical, theater show, or comedy performance at CityStage, Symphony Hall, or the MassMutual Center right in the heart of the district! Perhaps intimate evening social events is more your style? We have em’ – such as the monthly Jazz Jams at the Community Music School and Culture and Cocktails evenings at the Springfield Museums. Alongside these events we have a fantastic variety of regional and international cuisine, including the nationally recognized German establishment The Student Prince, and live music hotspot Theodore’s Blues, Booze and Barbeque. Don’t forget to take a look up at our impressive and historic architecture.

What do we do?

The mission of the Springfield Cultural District is to bring more vitality to the city by highlighting its outstanding cultural offerings and adding new creative opportunities for artists and the greater community. We aim to make arts and culture in Springfield not only more accessible, but to create connections between artists, cultural landmarks, and visitors!Our vision is that the City of Springfield will be recognized as a creative community that contributes to the economic vitality and cultural enrichment of the region. We foster synergy and alignment of our cultural resources in order to create a vibrant and welcoming experience for visitors and residents alike  to experience its cultural resources and draw more artists to choose to live and work in Springfield.
