 Sara Smith (she/they) is a transdisciplinary choreographer and librarian. She works across a range of creative practices to explore the interconnected poetics and politics of embodied research and knowledge. Sara also writes and presents on the intersection of librarianship, art, and social justice, and from 2010-2017 was the Editor of KINEBAGO, a forum for writing by and about New England dance makers and movement researchers.Sara is a recent recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship award in Choreography, and has also received support for her work from The LEF Foundation, Maine Arts Commission, Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, and residency fellowships from The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Hewnoaks, and The American Antiquarian Society.Sara collaborates with other performing and visual artists, most regularly with writer and interdisciplinary artist Karinne Keithley Syers and visual artist Gina Siepel. Her performances and other works have been seen and heard at venues throughout the U.S., including 33 Hawley, Amherst College, A.P.E. Gallery, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, The Chocolate Factory, Experiments in Cinema, Green Street Studios, HERE Arts Center, HOT! Festival at Dixon Place, Joyce SoHo, Ladyfest Los Angeles, Mildred's Lane, Movement Gallery, the San Francisco International Film Festival, SPACE Gallery, The Puppet Lab at St. Ann’s Warehouse, and Vermont Performance Lab, among others.
