We are a Local Community Council. Members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen to administer an annual allocation of funds provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. These monies are expended in the form of grants to support local programming in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences. We encourage local persons and groups to apply for grants. Proposals serving youth receive priority as well as collaborative programs between cultural groups and community organizations. During 2000 and 2001 we received some private funding which enabled us to begin a comprehensive Visiting Artists Program in our local elementary school. A Matching Incentive grant in 2002 from the MCC enables us to continue that program this year. Local persons will be involved in this program.
