Myrifield Institute for Cognition and the Arts promotes collaboration among researchers engaged in exploring the role of the arts in the development of human cognition. We invite inquiries from small groups of scholars and artists pursuing research in human cognition and the fine and performing arts – literature, visual art, architecture, music, dance – who seek a secluded setting for discussion of issues, problems, and future directions.Recognizing that no center exists for consolidating and developing research in the cognitive sciences and the arts, we founded our institute in 2008. We sponsor small gatherings of researchers from multiple disciplines to informally share their work , discuss issues, problems, and future directions, and to explore further collaboration in work associated with all aspects of the relations between the cognitive sciences and the arts.Myrifield provides modest but comfortable accommodations for small groups to meet outside the formal venues of conferences and lectures. We encourage informal exchanges among specialists as opposed to prepared presentations.
