Jeannie teaches "Creative Bookmaking" workshops for children, teachers and adults that incorporate creative writing, illustration and innovative book structures. The projects she designs are easy to build and fun to fill. Students learn to tell stories with pictures and words that help them find their place in the world as they learn about other cultures and traditions. Her workshops and residencies have been offered in a variety of settings across New England, including libraries, classrooms, and community art centersJeannie's school residencies have had curriculum links to: language arts (stories, non-fiction and poetry), oral history, social studies, science, art history, math concepts, and civics.Jeannie was featured as a local artist on WGBY's Literacy Day for her bookmaking work with children, and is the co-designer of Intersections: A City of Stories, a community-based book arts/oral history project that allowed middle school students to explore the lives and tell the stories of local immigrants. She is a registered "Creative Teaching Partner" with the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and is a graduate of Smith College. She lives in Northampton, MA.Jeannie's own book-works explore family history, sacred space and a sense of place in books that flip over, pop up and fold out into inventive and whimsical shapes. Her works on paper are inspired by the natural world and by traditional folk arts and sacred arts from around the globe.Library programs start at $225. plus mileage and materials fee. Residency projects vary according to length and project selected. Average teaching fees are $100. per hour or $600 per day.
