Art making is a process of discovery, during which my inner world intersects with nature. This can have the effect of opening my senses to the unseen, which I believe is meant to be a source of inspiration. As an artist, I do not always know how and when my work will be a gift to others, but I know that when I am truly inspired I am more likely to hold that for others.Coming from a family of artists I have a strong affinity for the creative process. I see art-making as a bridge to creating community. As we explore the creative process we naturally lean into the importance of diversity and the vast levels of human experience. As an art teacher, I acknowledge the profound importance of every approach and it is always on my mind to celebrate this. I aspire to create inclusive communities, holding acceptance as a crucial ingredient of the artistic process. The physical book is an emblem of storytelling. Books are good friends to have around. I am drawn to making children’s books because of the tactile and intimate nature of reading to one’s child. I see the importance of the relationship between words and images, for most importantly they can lend space to each other to help tell a story.I look forward to engaging with you on projects of cultural meaning and co-creating a thoughtful narrative.
